Southpaw Autoworks is an independent automotive education and media company focused on automatic transmission building. Through instructional videos and online courses, we help automotive enthusiasts and aspiring technicians understand how transmissions work and how rebuild procedures fit together.
What we do
Southpaw publishes educational videos about automatic transmissions, including detailed rebuild instruction. We are also developing structured online courses for people who want to build their knowledge and skills beyond what a single video can offer.
How we teach
Transmission building can seem intimidating to someone encountering it for the first time. Our goal is to make the work easier to understand without glossing over the details. We explain why steps matter, show the work clearly, and connect individual procedures to the larger rebuild.
About the founder
Southpaw Autoworks was founded by Robert Hurtado, a former ASE Master Auto Technician specializing in automatic transmissions. His hands-on experience informs the company’s focus on clear, practical instruction for enthusiasts and people preparing for a career in the trade.
